Mobile Job Search in 7 Steps Here are seven basic steps for Rachel’s and your mobile job search: 1.  Research on the go. Find new job postings listed on company websites, company career pages, college career center sites, social media and job search websites. You can also search for company Information, photos, videos and employee information. Find salary and review information on 3rd party sites such as Glassdoor. Don’t forget to find industry news that you can use. 2.  Apps, Alerts and Networking: Consider downloading job search and networking apps to your phone such as LinkedIn, Meetup, and Indeed Job Search. Check your email and job search alerts every day. Some job sites can be personalized to send you email or text alerts. This allows you to respond immediately to new job opportunities. Use the LinkedIn mobile app to keep current with your profile, network, specific jobs and companies. 3.  Career advice: Why not improve your skills on the go? Find career sites, videos or blogs offering advice for job seekers. While you are waiting in line or for a friend, catch up on interview or resume tips online. Make sure your documents are mobile friendly or consider doing this important step on a desktop or laptop computer instead. Every job application needs to be double checked for spelling, punctuation and appearance. Just because you are using a mobile device for everything else in your search, don’t underestimate the importance of the quality of the actual job application. You need to insure it’s perfect regardless of how you are producing it. Many job seekers still save this part of the search for the desktop but it’s your call and it is getting easier. 5.  Pre-Interview research: Just before your interview, check the social media and company pages online. Make sure you are aware of the most recent posts. This can often help facilitate the initial conversation at the interview. 6.  Turn it off! During the interview, make sure your phone is completely off. Your attention needs to be 100% on the interview itself. 7.  Post Interview Follow Up: No excuses! Email your thank you from your smart phone.
